PMP further raises its degree of digitisation by identifying new technologies to be introduced within the finished product storage and delivery of finished products. Reasons for joining the call and interventions

Innovation and digitalization are key elements to remain competitive in today’s market. In this context, PMP S.r.l. has recently joined the “Support for the Digital Transition of Enterprises in Emilia-Romagna” initiative, taking a significant step towards enhancing its production flow and improving the overall efficiency of its business operations.
 
The intervention funded by the initiative aimed to optimize the already established production flow, focusing on three key areas: warehouse management, shipment preparation, and goods delivery. Through the implementation of innovative digital solutions, PMP S.r.l. has revolutionized its operational procedures, improving processes and consequently the overall customer experience.

1. Warehouse Management

One of the main innovations was the introduction of a mobile application installed on industrial PDAs, allowing all major warehouse operations to be performed more quickly and efficiently. Specifically, loading/unloading parts, inventory, and label printing can be managed in real time and more accurately.
This allows operators to save time and resources by optimizing warehouse management with several benefits:
  • Process Automation: The application automates many processes that were previously done manually, reducing the risk of human error and increasing overall warehouse efficiency.
  • Real-Time Inventory Management: The application provides a real-time view of inventory status, allowing warehouse operators to always know how many products are available and where they are located, reducing the risk of overstocking or stockouts.
  • Cost Reduction and Increased Productivity: By automating processes and improving inventory management accuracy, the application helps reduce overall operational costs and increase warehouse staff productivity.
  • Improved Customer Experience: Efficient warehouse management translates to faster delivery times, more accurate orders, and greater product availability, overall enhancing the customer experience.

2. Preparing shipments

The digitization of the packing slip and the implementation of a specific functionality within the mobile app have simplified and optimized the shipping preparation process. Employees can now access detailed instructions (with images) on wall monitors and manage product packaging, label printing, and available warehouse quantities for shipments more efficiently.
The benefits in this area are also numerous:
  • Instant Access to Detailed Instructions: Thanks to the mobile app functionality, employees can instantly access detailed shipping preparation instructions directly on wall monitors. This eliminates the need for paper or physical documents, reducing the risk of errors and speeding up the process.
  • Display of Explanatory Images: The detailed instructions provided by the app can be accompanied by explanatory images that help employees better understand the necessary steps for product packaging. This makes the process more intuitive and reduces the risk of errors.

3. Delivery of goods

Thanks to the implementation of a mobile app on tablets for internal couriers, the delivery process has been significantly improved. Couriers can now view deliveries to be made, digitally sign transport documents (DDT), and receive real-time instructions from headquarters.
The application is integrated with a geographic map that shows the delivery progress, ensuring greater transparency and control within the company.
Finally, a smart notification system has been implemented to send messages to the courier, such as merchandise pickup requests or other alerts, further improving communication and coordination between internal staff and couriers.
