How pmp optimised the shipments flow

An app to optimise the flow of shipments and improve the level of control.

In the context of the call for the digital transition, PMP also chose to take a step forward with regard to the management of the shipment flow of goods. Relying once again on the strategic partnership with Studio ITC, an ad-hoc app was developed that innovated the management of shipments by couriers and simplified the control of the entire flow.

The project in two words: simplicity and efficiency

The application is designed to optimise and simplify the daily work of couriers, while providing a complete and accurate view of logistics operations to PMP’s internal operators.

Its operation is absolutely straightforward and immediate. Once the Transport Documents (DDT) are created internally in the PMP warehouse, the app shows the courier all the deliveries scheduled for today, broken down by customer and with a different view for urgent deliveries.

Then, using the delivery planning functionality, couriers have the possibility to reorder the scheduled deliveries, thus organising their own itinerary. This results in a reduction of travel time.
The application also aims to maintain a history of the deliveries made that can be easily consulted and guarantees the traceability of each operation carried out.

Graphometric Signature: Traceability and Security

Thanks to the introduction of the graphometric signature, the way in which the courier requests the signature on delivery has also been speeded up and improved.
At the time of delivery, the courier will simply type in the name of the operator collecting the goods and accept his signature directly via the app. All the operator has to do is draw his signature with his finger and confirm.

This function not only ensures greater security of the signature but also improves the traceability and speed of the operation, making it possible to always check which operator received the goods at the exact time of delivery.

Web App serving PMP Warehouse Operators

The overall project to optimise the flow of shipments also included the creation of a Web App for PMP’s internal warehouse operators. This web application is displayed directly on the internal warehouse monitors and provides a detailed overview of the courier delivery flow.

Specifically, the complete list of scheduled deliveries is displayed (updated in real time in the event of rescheduling by the courier) with immediate feedback differentiating between those already completed and those still to be made.
Finally, thanks to an advanced geolocalisation function, warehouse operators can view the location of the truck in real time, thus being able to provide prompt and precise answers to customers in the event of enquiries regarding shipping times.

Packing slips as the key to standardise and improve shipment preparation

A further extremely useful functionality that has been developed is that of the packing sheets, with the aim of guiding operators during the preparation phase of the shipment.
A special section has been provided in the management system where, for each piece produced, specific details can be entered regarding the packing phase of the products.

The warehouse operators thus have the possibility of viewing a real guide (including images) on the monitor regarding the packing of each individual piece, which allows them to follow verified standards and to operate with greater speed and safety.
This allows them to optimise the shipping phase, guaranteeing faster preparation and consistently excellent packing quality, while minimising the risk of complaints and post-delivery disputes.

A Crucial Step in PMP's Digital Transition

The creation of this application represents a further step in the extensive digital transition initiated by PMP with the 2023 announcement.
The digitisation of logistics processes has enabled PMP to improve operational efficiency and at the same time provide its customers with greater transparency and control over the stages of delivery.

This is in line with PMP’s vision to innovate its services and internal operations in order to respond more effectively to its customers’ needs.

Conclusion

The introduction of this new delivery management app is a concrete step by PMP towards innovation and maximisation of efficiency. On the one hand, couriers are able to manage their daily work optimally.

On the other hand, warehouse operators are able to control the entire delivery flow with greater precision.
PMP is therefore at the forefront of its sector, with the will to constantly innovate in order to successfully overcome the present and future challenges that digitisation imposes.
